In particular, the financial services industry is the preferred channel to facilitate massive fund transfers quickly.Financial professionals need to be aware of AML/CFT (Anti-Money Laundering /Countering of Terrorist Financing) framework and the importance of playing an active part to stop these illegal activities.The various stages of money laundering cycle will be explored along with techniques specific to each stage. In addition, the 3 categories on how money are commonly laundered (as spelt out by Financial Action Task Force), and strategies employed will be examined. Participants will learn of Singapore’s legal framework and strategies to address money laundering and terrorist financing. The course will wrap up with 5 real world case studies that are relevant to key concepts taught.

Synopsis – In the financial industry, the loss experienced by a failure in a system is disproportionate large compared to the responsibilities held by an unethical individual, or in some cases, an entire instituition. The amount of financial loss sustained can be financially crippling (bankruptcies) to both the customers and financial institutions from unethical behavior.The course will explore some of the theories behind ethical decision making process specific to the financial service industry, and the challenges in codifying ethical behavior. This will be based on research involving disciplines of psychology, behavioral ethics, and organizational behavior, Next, we will review on motivational factors that are likely to push individuals or groups to the “dark” side. With understanding and recognition of these motivational factors, suggested frameworks can be put in place to prevent financial practitioners from engaging in unethical behavior.
