Introduction to SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG)

  • About SSG
    • SSG is a statutory board under the Ministry of Education (MOE). 
  • Purpose
    • SSG aims to encourage individuals to take ownership of their skills development and lifelong learning. 
  • To achieve this goal, all Singapore Citizens (SC) aged 25 and above will receive an opening SkillsFuture Credit of S$500 since 2015.

SkillsFuture Credit

  • SkillsFuture Credit can be used on top of existing SSG course fee subsidies to pay for a wide range of approved skills-related courses. There is no expiry date for the opening credit.
  • To further encourage Singaporeans to take timely steps to reskill and upskill, a SkillsFuture Credit Top-Up of $4,000 (Mid-Career Support) was provided to every Singaporean Citizen aged 40 years and above as at 31 December 2020.

MySkillsFuture

  • MySkillsFuture is a one-stop portal for Singaporeans to upskill in their lifelong learning journey. 
  • Individuals can claim their SkillsFuture Credit, learn more about the latest skills in demand, and view more than 20,000 SkillsFuture Credit eligible courses on the Course Directory.

Introduction to WSQ Courses

  • Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) is a national credential system that trains, develops, assesses and certifies skills and competencies for the workforce.
  • WSQ-accredited courses take reference from the skills developed under the Skills Frameworks
    • The Skills Framework provides key information on the job roles and skills that an individual needs to perform various job tasks and to stay transferable.
  • A structured and efficient system has been established to help build a strong training infrastructure that supports Singapore’s workforce development.
    • From developing Technical Skills and Competencies and Critical Core Skills, to approving training providers and awarding WSQ qualifications, stringent criteria are applied to ensure the necessary standards and delivery.

Benefits of WSQ Courses

WSQ Certificates

Since 2019, all Singaporeans and Permanent Residents can access and download OpenCerts uploaded by training providers from their Skills Passport. The steps are listed below:
 
Step 1: Visit MySkillsFuture.gov.sg.
 
Step 2: Click on ‘Access E-Services’.
 
Step 3: Select ‘Download Certificates’ and you will be prompted to log in.
 
Step 4: Log in via Singpass and you will be redirected to the Skills Passport page, where you can view your list of learning achievements.
 
Step 5: Click on the specific record and click on the OpenCerts icon to download the respective certificates. A new browser tab for https://OpenCerts.io will open.
 
Step 6: Click on the “Print” button. 
 
Step 7: Indicate “Save as PDF” in the destination.  
 
Step 8: Under Pages: select “All”. 
 
Step 9: Under Layout: select “Portrait”. 
 
Step 10: Select “Save” to download a PDF copy of the certificate.
 
Step 11: Click “Save” to obtain a PDF copy of your digital certificate

REGISTRATION  PROCESS

Self-sponsored Learners
– Registration Process

  • All registrations MUST Be submitted via online. Please ensure that all details submitted are 100% correct, esp. NRIC no. and DOB. 
  • The form MUST BE completed and submitted by the learners themselves as there are PDPA statement and T&C that they need to agree before submitted the form. 
  • Deadline is at least 4 days prior to course commencement date
  • WE DO NOT accept walk-in learner on the day of the course.
  • We reserve the right to verify learner’s funding eligibility and nett course fee payable with SSG.
  • Learner is strongly encourage to respond to the Pre Course confirmation email to confirm their attendance for the course.
  • However, if no payment is made before the course starts, we reserves the right to remove any confirmation of place.

Company-sponsored Learners
– Registration Process

  • Sponsoring company to complete and submit a registration form and send back to us at least 4 days before course commences. 
  • SME Eligibility Criteria
    • Registered or incorporated in Singapore
    • Company’s employment size must not exceed 200, OR your organisation’s annual sales turnover must not exceed S$100 million
  • SME will need to submit a SME declaration to be eligible for enhanced course fee funding.

 

Company-sponsored Learners

  • Completed registration form and all supporting documents must be submitted at least 4 days prior to course commencement date.
  • WE DO NOT accept walk-in learner on the day of the course.
  • We reserve the right to verify learners’ funding eligibility and nett course fee payable with SSG.

FUNDING SCHEMES FOR COURSES

Statement of Attainment (SOA)

  • SSG will only issue Statement of Attainment (SOA) will when learner has successfully completed and passed the course
  • Learners who are Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents can log in to MySkillsFuture portal using Singpass to download their e-Certs. 
  • Learners who are foreigners without Singpass can approach their respective ATOs to download their e-Certs.

PRE-COURSE ADVISORY

Prior to Course Commencement

Upon confirmation of the class:

  • Email confirmation will be sent to the learner.
  • Payment to be made before course starts 
  • Whatsapp groupchat will be created.
  • Learner must have a SingPass Account, downloaded and set up SingPass mobile app  BEFORE the first day of the class, if it’s not done yet. 

 

Note that, as per SSG’s requirement, attendance taking is via SingPass ONLY. Learner who cannot access to SingPass may not be able to attend the course. 

Course Fee Payment

  • We will bill the learner Nett Course Fee**. 
    • **Nett Course Fee = Full Course Fee less any applicable training grants and subsidies from SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG). + GST
  • All payments are to be made in SINGAPORE DOLLARS (SGD) in the form of digital cash transfer.
  • If learner is using SkillFuture Credit, this must be done before the course begins.
  • All payment must be made BEFORE commencement of class. 
  • In the event where SSG grants is unsuccessful, we reserves the right to claim the unfunded component of the course fee from the learner or sponsoring company.

POST-COURSE ADVISORY

TRAQOM Survey

Training Quality Outcome Measurement (TRAQOM) 

  • At the end of the course, learners will be asked to submit the TRAQOM survey form. 
    • This is mandatory, as required by SSG.

 

  • The link will be given to the learners at the end of the course by the trainer. 
    • If the learners fail to submit the form at the end of the course, SSG will send reminders via email / SMS to the learners after the course. Please respond to the TRAQOM survey promptly. 

In-house Course Survey

  • At the end of the course, learners will be asked to submit the In-house Course Survey form. 
  • The link will be given to the learners at the end of the course by the trainer. 

Career Advisory

  • Learners who have successfully completed our course/s may request for a 1-to-1 consultation session with our WSG Certified Career Advisor.
  • This is an optional service provided upon request by the learner.
