Course Synopsis

The National Environment Agency (NEA) has declared it necessary for all cleaners to take at least one WSH cleaning course and one Core Module in order to be qualified for the renewal of a cleaning business licence and stay in compliance.

Attending more approved courses is advised for current cleaners who want to improve their skills and advance in the environmental service industry in order to stay relevant and competitive.

It is best for new cleaners who want to work in the environmental services sector to take two WSQ mandatory courses and earn certificates for one WSH course and one Core Module.

This course is a Level 1 program that will address knowledge and multi-skill requirements for entry into the cleaning industry, focusing on workplace safety. Assessment Only Pathway (AOP) is available.

What You'll Learn

Specifically, you will:
  • Apply the WSH framework to your organization's reporting processes.

  • Determine the responsibilities of a general worker and the WSH Committee.

  • Assess the types of workplace health and safety issues that exist and report them.

  • Assess and report any potential risks or hazards in the work area.

  • Assess the importance of various safety cues and signs at work

  • Maintaining personal hygiene at work

  • Use the various PPE options to reduce workplace risks

  • To reduce malfunctions and prevent injuries, implement the necessary safety procedures for workplace equipment and safety devices

  • Attend workplace health and safety training and respond to various workplace emergencies

Course Objectives

This course will equip the learners with the following skills and knowledge:
  • Focus on one’s awareness to change behaviour and attitudes

  • Able to use cleaning tools adapted to the physical needs of the worker. Eg light weight micro fibre mops and flat mops which utilise less water ; which in turn will minimise the risk of slip and falls. Lighter mop heads with adjustable poles can enable a better job done when the worker adjusts the length of the pole.

  • Identify hazards causing a member of the public to fall and injure himself or herself.

Course Fees After Subsidy

  • *Course fees payable is subject to 8% GST charged based on the full course fees before subsidy.
  • **Absentee payroll is claimable up to $4.50 per hour, capped at $100.000 per enterprise per calendar year.

SME Eligibility Criteria

  • Registered or incorporated in Singapore
  • At least 30% local shareholding by Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • Empoyment size of not more than 200 (at group level) or with annual sales turnover (at group level) of not more than $100 million
